How to Use Coin Flip

To flip a coin, click the Flip button. The result — Heads or Tails — is shown immediately. You can flip multiple coins at once by entering a number greater than 1 in the count field. The running tally tracks how many heads and tails have come up across all flips in your session.

Click Reset to clear the tally and start a new session. The coin flip is cryptographically random, ensuring each outcome is equally likely at exactly 50% probability regardless of previous results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the coin flip truly 50/50? expand_more

Yes. The tool uses the browser's cryptographically random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) to produce a result with exactly 50% probability for heads and 50% for tails on every flip.

Does the result of previous flips affect future results? expand_more

No. Each coin flip is completely independent of all previous results. Getting 10 heads in a row does not change the probability of the next flip — it is still exactly 50/50.

Can I flip multiple coins at once? expand_more

Yes. Enter any number in the count field to flip that many coins simultaneously. The result shows how many landed heads and how many tails.

What is the law of large numbers in coin flipping? expand_more

The law of large numbers states that as the number of coin flips increases, the proportion of heads and tails tends towards 50% each. In the short run, significant streaks are common and normal.

What is the probability of flipping 5 heads in a row? expand_more

The probability of flipping 5 heads in a row is (1/2)⁵ = 1/32, or approximately 3.125%. Each individual flip is still 50/50, but the combined probability of any specific sequence of 5 flips is 1 in 32.
