Butter Tools (butter-tools.com) is operated by HRS Tech LLC. We provide free, browser-based utility tools — PDF editors, text tools, image converters, calculators, developer tools, SEO tools, and more. All tool processing happens locally in your browser; no files or personal data are sent to our servers.

2. Data We Collect

2a. Essential data (no consent required)

We store your colour-vision accessibility preference in localStorage — a browser-side key/value store that never leaves your device. No cookies are written and no data is sent to us.

2b. Analytics — Google Analytics 4 (with consent)

If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 collects:

• Pages visited and time spent on each page
• Browser type, operating system, and device category
• Approximate location (country / city — derived from IP; IP addresses are anonymised)
• Session counts and how you arrived at the site (referrer / UTM parameters)

This data is processed by Google LLC under their Privacy Policy. We use it to understand which tools are most useful so we can prioritise improvements.

2c. Marketing — Meta Pixel (with consent)

If you accept marketing cookies, Meta Pixel (operated by Meta Platforms, Inc.) collects:

• Page-view events and tool interaction signals
• Browser identifiers used to match your visit to a Facebook/Instagram profile for ad targeting and conversion measurement

This data is processed by Meta under their Privacy Policy. We use it to measure ad performance and serve relevant ads on Meta platforms.

• Google Analytics: data is retained for 14 months (GA4 default, configurable in your GA account).
• Meta Pixel: per Meta's data retention policies (typically 180 days for event data).
• LocalStorage entries: remain until you clear browser data.

Under GDPR (if you are in the EU/EEA/UK) and similar laws (CCPA for California residents), you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification — correct inaccurate data.
• Erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Restriction — ask us to limit how we process your data.
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
• Withdraw consent — click Cookie Settings in the site footer at any time. Withdrawal does not affect prior processing.
